goldenopulencenord.jpg

DailyOlive.com: Got $1,000? Why Not Try a Golden Opulence Sundae?

"5 scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla and covered in 23K edible gold leaf, the sundae is drizzled with the world's most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and covered with chunks of rare Chuao chocolate, which is from cocoa beans harvested by the Caribbean Sea on Venezuela's coast. The masterpiece is suffused with exotic candied fruits from Paris, gold dragets, truffles and Marzipan Cherries. It is topped with a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion Caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, made of salt-free American Golden caviar, known for its sparkling golden color. It's sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, orange and Armagnac. The sundae is served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with an 18K gold spoon to partake in the indulgence -served with a petite mother of pearl spoon and topped with a gilded sugar flower by Ron Ben-Israel."

When does a bathing suit become underwear?

speedo.jpg

So for some reason "Trumpet" maker of ice cream novelties in New Zealand felt like taking on the very difficult question of determining when a speedo becomes underwear in this commercial. It's a complicated question because we accept them (sort of) at the water's edge, but not in the mall. Where is the line? When does it change? Only an ice cream company can tell us the answer.

Sketch Swap

sketchswap.jpg

Sketch Swap is a clever web app that lets you make a drawing and then when you are done will show you someone else's drawing.

It reminds of the Twilight Zone episode in which a person was given a box with a button and told that if they pressed the button they would get a million dollars and someone that they don't know would die.

Eventually of course the person succumbed to the tempation and pressed the button, and got the million dollars. Then the box was taken away from them and given to someone that they didn't know.

So beware- you may get a sketch like whatever you just drew.

Islamophobia

I've spotted a new word in some of my readings, "Islamophobia" . The word was coined as a result of Muslim outrage over a cartoon published in a Danish newspaper recently. Apparently the cartoon was offensive to a bunch of Muslims - I haven't seen it. The response has varied from thoughtful to the ever-present Muslim-in-the-street-screaming-with-a-burning-flag images which dominate Middle East news coverage.

The thoughtful responses have been the ones using "Islamophobia," apparently the fear of Islam. Ironically it sounds like Muslims are taking a page out of the homosexual playbook whose proponents coined "homophobia."
