Don III gets a fellowship

I just got word that I received a fellowship for 2004-2005:

“I have the great pleasure of informing you that you have been awarded the CSE Educator’s Fellowship for 2004-5. Yay!
This is a 9-month fellowship that provides a stipend at your RA level (RA2=$[xxxx]/mo), tuition, fees, and health benefits. The tenure of the fellowship is September 16, 2004 to June 15, 2005.
The fellowship was established in 1995, as a result of contributions from former CSE chairman Helmut Golde and other faculty, plus mathcing funds from the UW Fellowship Fund and the Microsoft Challenge.
Your name will be added to the Educator’s Fellowship Plaque, which will eventually be hung in the waiting area of the Graduate Program offices.
Congratulations!”

It was totally out of the blue – so I’m not sure why I got it, but its quite an honor I guess. :)

Big time congradulations. This is the job that comes with running The Palmer Clan Web Page. Congradulations to your family for sticking it out through the hard times.

So for the record, this means that I’m still in graduate school, making the same amount, but my professor doesn’t have to find funding for me and I have another bullet for my resume. All good things. Hopefully I’ll be teaching as a prof somewhere fall 2005.

Congratulations to you and Sandy, your supportive other half!! I’m proud of both of you.
